Walking Into the Finished Kitchen is A Designer’s Proud Moment

Walking through the front door of one of my recent kitchen remodels, camera and tripod in hand, ready to capture the final reveal. The floor protection had been removed, the plastic coverings were gone, and there it was- my client’s new kitchen, shining in all its glory.

It looked like something straight out of a magazine, but better.

Why better? Because this space wasn’t staged or styled for a photo shoot. There weren’t any fake props or rented décor. This was a real kitchen, designed with love, built with purpose, and lived in by an awesome couple who now call it their dream kitchen.

When I arrived, I brought a vibrant pink flower arrangement to brighten up the room. But to my surprise, the homeowner had already purchased flowers that matched the space beautifully. That moment reminded me that this kitchen wasn’t just photogenic, it was already deeply loved and being enjoyed.

This wasn’t just another project. It was a transformation.

From Cramped and Closed Off to Open and Airy

Before we began the remodel, the old kitchen had its fair share of challenges. There was barely enough counter space to prepare a meal comfortably. A dated and awkward peninsula sliced through the space, making it feel divided and confined. The tight area between the refrigerator and stove made cooking feel more like a chore than a joy.

But gone are those days.

The new open concept kitchen completely changed how this home feels and functions. We removed walls to connect adjacent rooms, creating a warm, welcoming flow that invites people to come in and stay awhile. The home feels so much larger, brighter, and more connected now.  Perfect for entertaining or simply enjoying a quiet morning coffee.

Thoughtful Details Make All the Difference

One of my favorite parts of the design is the prep island, perfectly located near the stove. The homeowners tell me they use it every single day as a prep station and it’s easy to see why. It’s the kind of detail that makes cooking feel effortless and enjoyable again.

Across the room sits a large secondary island with seating and a beverage fridge.  An entertainer’s dream. Whether they’re hosting a casual gathering or a family dinner, the setup makes drinks and seating easily accessible without getting in the cook’s way.

And where the old dining room used to be,  it’s now a stunning buffet and coffee bar area, complete with upper display cabinets and generous countertops. There’s plenty of room for the coffee maker, tea station, blenders, and all the kitchen gadgets we love but never quite had space for before.

The Real Reward?  A Happy Homeowner

Yes, I love photographing these gorgeous kitchen remodels. Yes, I love seeing them shared and appreciated by others. But the real reward? It’s knowing that my clients are happy in their new kitchen. They’re cooking more. They’re hosting more. And most importantly, they love being in the heart of their home again.

That, to me, is what makes a kitchen magazine worthy.
