A Kitchen Designed for Cooking: The Perfect Balance of Function and Beauty

The old kitchen was bursting with potential, but it just wasn’t working for this busy couple. They love to cook and entertain.  But their old layout made that nearly impossible.  The kitchen needed to be infused with new life and a new layout.  The old kitchen had oak cabinets, the storage was disorganized, and the space just didn’t flow.

That’s when they called me.

We started dreaming together about a kitchen with a larger window over the sink and open spaces to cook and gather.  It had to be functional, it had to feel warm, bright, and built for everyday living.

The Design Goals

From day one, this kitchen design was rooted in real life. We focused on:

  • Creating efficient work zones
  • Incorporating ample storage
  • Adding spacious islands for meal prep and gathering
  • Using durable, beautiful finishes

This Dream Kitchen Features Include: 

  • Shiloh inset cabinets in Polar White for a timeless, clean look
  • Two large islands crafted in poplar wood with a rich Hudson stain.  Each serving its own purpose for prep, seating, and storage
  • Honed Mont Blanc quartzite on the main island, bringing elegance and natural warmth
  • Cambrian Black leathered granite on the perimeter counters for contrast and texture
  • A custom designed two-tier island that adds style and ample seating for gatherings 

The Celebration

At the end of the project, we gathered around the new kitchen to share pizza, beer, and wine with the homeowners.  The homeowner shared with us more than pizza as he graciously shared his experience with his kitchen remodel and with the Wayside Kitchens team.
